Born 06/12/1915 in New York City. He was the youngest son of John D. Rockefeller, Jr. He graduated from Harvard with a B.S. in English history, literature and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago.

Rockefeller worked without salary for 18 months as an intern in New York City. Joined the Army as a private and served in North Africa and France, retiring as a captain.
He joined the Chase National Bank. In 1955, when Chase merged with the Bank of Manhattan, became executive vice president.
He was a director of Rockefeller Center. After the trustees sold it to Mitsubishi, he gathered investors including Goldman Sachs, assuring a part back into the family.
David died 03/20/2017 in New York.
He said, “I have dyslexia, which was never diagnosed, and I never received remedial attention.”
