Dating and the Table Text
Can we just have a conversation?
You might have been dating someone for a while and though the two of you might get along for the most part. However, the two of you might have one issue. You might have an issue with your partner texting at the table. So, what do you do if your partner texts at the table while the two of you eat? How do you approach this type of situation? Though the answers to these questions may be different for everyone, here are a few suggestions.
1. Talk to your partner about this issue.
Discuss this issue with your partner and let him or her know what your feelings are regarding the issue. Listen to how your partner feels about this issue and do your best to be on the same page.
2. Set time limits.
If answering texts is something that your partner has to do for work or to take care of another responsibility, then set limits on how long the two of you use your phone at the table. Before dinner, get all of your texts and other replies out of the way so you can enjoy your meal together without interference.
3. Compromise on not having phones at the table.
Talk to your partner about not having phones at the table and do your best to agree with one another on when it is proper to use your device. Try to hold each other accountable and follow through with the rules that the two of you create.
If you have been with someone for a while but you have an issue with him or her using his or her phone at the table, then try discussing this issue with him or her. Set time limits if necessary, and if the two of you can agree on it then compromise on not having phones at the table.
