Dating and the Corkscrew
So, how do you do this?
You might have been dating someone for a while, and though the two of you may get along most of the time, you might have one issue. You might have stopped drinking alcohol while your partner still drinks. So, what do you do if you don’t drink and your partner does? How do you approach this type of situation? Though the answers to these questions can be different for everyone, here are a few suggestions.
1. Talk to your partner about the situation.
Let your partner know how you feel about this issue and listen to what your partner says about the situation. Try to find a way to understand each other and do your best to compromise on a solution.
2. Find activities to do together that don’t involve alcohol.
Try to find things that the two of you can do together that you both enjoy. Do your best to find activities that don’t involve drinking so you don’t feel left out, and let your partner know how you feel after doing these activities together.
3. Have nights out with friends.
Have a night or two out with your friends that don’t drink and give your partner a chance to have a night out with his or her friends. This way, he or she has a chance to enjoy a beverage without having to drink around you.
If you have a partner that you care about but you have an issue when it comes to drinking alcohol, talk to your partner about this. Find activities that you can do to bond that don’t involve alcohol, and schedule a couple of nights out with your friends so the two of you have a chance to enjoy activities that you don’t do together.
