Dark Water
A poem about carrying someone’s weight and sharing the unquietness of living.
Why did you bring me so deep? Consciousness is a shining ship Sinking silently to the bottom Of nowhere
What am I looking for Diving into the waters of your despair Where nobody has been before? There’s no light, no heat, just fear
And I know you don’t belong here. I feel a few broken words They are fast fishes hiding to survive Lost swimmers between death and life
I just got one, it’s shaking in my hand I try to listen, but I don’t understand Has the old blood of a childhood memory How much will it take you to set free?
At some point man and woman are the same We can forgive but we’re still drowned by blame How many times have we crossed the line? I’m addicted to your loneliness ’cause it saves me from mine
Do you remember the wind on the ship’s forehead The mountains landscape where life doesn’t seem so sad? We still have each other’s hopes to feed And I’m so thirsty to breathe!
I’ll drink this dark water until there is no more That’s what love was made for.
