Dangerous Fashion
Looking good can kill you
Many fashion trends become popular despite their impracticality. Perhaps because of their impracticality.
The classic deadly fashion is the long scarf, but modern trends are no less dangerous.
“Gangsta chic” of unlaced shoes and pants sliding down your hips mimicked the police removing your shoelaces and belt. It caused many urban accidents — people couldn’t cross streets quickly enough.
Choice of footwear can kill you. Slip-resistant shoes decreased fast-food workers' “slip and fall” injury claims by 54%. On the other hand, wearing sneakers can cause falls for the elderly.
Long hair can catch in machinery. But it can also get you killed in laser tag. One of our opponents wore her hair in a high pony. When she hid behind obstacles, her ponytail was visible.
It gives new meaning to “fashion victim”.
