Dandelion in the wind.
Elaine stared at the man who sat before her, cross-legged, with her teary eyes. Sobs threatened to escape from her lips but she wasn’t going to cry. She wouldn’t, she wouldn’t give her so called mother-in-law, the joy of seeing her tears. She ignored her mother-in-law who was beside the man seated on the sofa, before her. She turned to the man, her husband. "Are you really going to do this, Henry?". She asked, making the man turn to her with a frown. "And are you going to ask about this now?. You signed the divorce papers already. What do you think is next. We have nothing to do with each other anymore" " You.... You can’t just say that. You can’t talk like our years together was nothing to you." " You mean the fruitless years?." He scoffed lightly. " Years without a child?". "Six good years without a child, might I add" Her mother-in-law, Ma’am Regina, chimmed in. "Wasted time without a grandchild". She sneered at Elaine disdainfully. "What are we talking about?, Are we going to sit and watch.?" "This conversation is useless already". Henry said turning to a servant "help her out along with her luggages." Elaine sighed. She couldn’t believe it. She’s going to lose the title of 'Mrs Rowland’. What was she saying?, She lost it already, along with her marriage and the man she’d always cherished all her life. "Get out already before my patience runs out". Ma’am Regina’s voice rang out in her ear. "Bear in mind, my son has a new wife already" she added with a smile making one doubt the fact that she was just glaring daggers at Elaine seconds ago. "Come in." She ordered,as a slim feminine figure stepped out from one of the rooms. A small gasp flew out of Elaine’s mouth, her face etched into a confused frown. Standing before her was her best friend, rather supposed best friend and confidant. She clenched her fists as a realization dawned on her. She had been stabbed at her back. And it hurt. "Really, Claire?". She asked, not even looking up. She looked down as she desperately fought back the tears that were at the brink of rolling down her cheeks. "Oh please. It’s not my fault that you’re dumb and can’t bear a baby." Claire replied with a flick of her hair over her shoulder. Elaine glanced up at Henry once more. "I’m disappointed, Henry." "Stuff your disappointment into your own pocket" he snapped at her with a huff, getting irritated. Ma’am Regina’s gave out a taunting laughter aimed at Elaine. "Don’t worry,we won’t forget you, and when Claire, my dear has a baby for my son, we’d call you over for the celebration". Her face turned cold and hard therafter. "Throw her out". She ordered. She sucked it up. It was over. She watched the servant walk towards her bags, and taking them out quickly. Elaine took a last glanced over at the house before slowly turning around to head out, where she found her brother. "Let’s just go" she told him tiredly, walking lifelessly towards the car. Her brother, feeling her melancholy only nodded. After putting her bags into the trunk, he entered the car, ignited it to life and drove off. Far from the mansion. Far from their life.

FEW HOURS LATER....
Still in the Rowlands' building, Claire sat right next to Henry as she carefully sliced some apples for him. She was all smiles. Anyone who would blame her should confront her directly and then, they would tell her if they didn’t like good thing. Who doesn’t want good things?. She had always watched Elaine prance about wearing nicer clothes and jeweleries, it was agonizingly upsetting. She had wanted to also live in this big house and have whatever she wants too. Who the heck does Elaine think she is?. Because she snatched everything from her and she’s glad about it. She sliced more apples. "Do you care for more slices, darling?" "Yes , please." Henry replied, smiling back at her. Just few meters behind them was ma’am Regina, who watched the couple with twinkling eyes. She could almost envision a beautiful future for the two. Just then, there was a noise from outside. "Mr. Rowland!" A voice practically bellowed. "Mr. Rowland!!" Shouted again Henry already had a scowl on his face, expressing his displeasure at the fellow who was yelling so loud in his house. He watched as their family doctor made their way into the living room, scurrying in with flapping papers. Ma’am Regina grunted, rolling her eyes at their family doctor who had always been efficient but very disorganized since they have known him. "Good news, Mr Rowland!" "What is the matter, doctor Ken?. Please speak." Henry said impatiently. " I brought good news!" Doctor Ken said enthusiastically. " Here are the results, Mr Rowland" "What results?" " Your wife was at my hospital days ago and he here, I say to you, She’s two weeks gone!" " What?" " What?". Mother and son said simultaneously in astonishment. "Excited, aren’t we?" Doctor Ken continued."I’m so happy for you Mr Rowland". He turned to ma’am Regina. " Ma’am Regina, here are also the result of the fertility test we carried out on the other lady". Oblivious to claire’s presence, he babbled on after a sigh. "The report shows that the young lady might have been involved in several abortions, hence, her womb have become so weak. All in all, it might be impossible for her to get pregnant in the future." Ma’am Regina stiffened. She had gone pale too. "Only by miracle from God." Doctor Ken continued. He dropped the papers. "I’ll take your leave now as I have other places to visit. Call me for the celebration." With that, he was out of the house again, like a flash. Henry’s nose flared as he stared at the door, while claire fumbled about with her dress. The doctor had been right about her having abortions. She was doomed. She looked up sneakily at ma’am Regina who was already glaring at her like she stole from her. Henry was lost in a trance. Elaine was pregnant and she was gone for over two hours, it dawned on him. Ha!. High possibilities that this Claire wouldn’t be able to give him a child was glaring. He was done for, and how on earth would he locate Elaine? "Henr_" He shot a glare at his mother who was planning to say something. She’d ruined his life with her suggestions. Why was she even staying in the house that was supposed to be his matrimonial abode?.
