Do you know Dumbo’s birth name?

Hello readers, writers, and publishers of Dancing Elephants Press and to everyone this articles reaches,

First and foremost thank you for accepting me as a writer. It is an honor to be part of a publication whose mission is to spread positivity and love, that is exactly my language.

Secondly, I love the name! It’s a happy, positive name within itself that made me think of the dancing elephants from Dumbo. These dancing elephants have not gained the fame they deserve, so here’s a gif

And one more,

Now that I got that out of my system, the movie Dumbo is on my mind and has my wheels turning. Dumbo, birth name Jumbo Jr., teaches us a great lesson about self love and self acceptance; a lesson that some may miss because it requires you to go deeper than the surface, not just scratch it.

Everyone saw the movie Dumbo, right? Yes? No? The elephant born with XXL ears that made him flip and flop when he walked? Ears so big he could tie them in a knot or tie them in a bow? So big he was bullied, laughed at, ridiculed and joined the circus?

EARS SO BIG THAT HE COULD FLY?!

Jumbo Jr., (I refuse to call him the nickname used to bully him) could fly with his ears, but he was so severely bullied from birth about their size, that he dismissed the possibility that there was anything great about them. He literally stumbled into the discovery of his flying capabilities while in the circus and even then it took him time to believe he actually flew.

Jumbo Jr., believed the lies of his bullies that it prevented him from achieving his greatness sooner. He was ridiculed from the moment he was born by other mother elephants beginning the stigma about his ears that his own mother eventually gets locked away as deemed a danger to others due to her ‘violent outbursts’. In reality she was fed up with the teasing. Do you realize the magnitude of that?

Can you imagine being bullied to a point it slows down your self growth? Fades away self love? I can and you know why? Because it happens all the time in our society and it starts from childhood. What if we discovered our wings as children? Would the world be in a better place?

Bullying, teasing, insults disguised as jokes can all cause growth delays, self esteem issues, suicidal ideologies, depression, anger issues… the list can go on and on and on. The goal should be being the difference, not the bully.

You could always choose to be accepting, encouraging, loving, and supportive even during times when you may disagree. I want to see people grow, find their wings, and fly. Confidence, kindness, and love are contagious, so the more you spread it, the more people will catch it. The more you be it, the more the people around you become it. Say no to bullying and say yes to flying.

Lastly, I was introduced to Dancing Elephants Press via a comment on an article shouting out other publications. Carrie. A. Kelly wrote the article, Write for These 5 Publications!, that had the comment. Check out the article as it mentions some worthwhile publications.

Lady Dr. Gabriella Korosi left the comment mentioning she was looking for new writers and with a name like Dancing Elephants Press, how could I not check it out? I look forward to dance with some elephants, write about it, and hopefully learn to fly like Jumbo Jr. did.
