Dance of the 21 Senses — I Am Alive
Hands peel off the wheel — Time pauses — my face blushes; rainbow in colour.

Senses leap and splash
Twenty-one children race and swirl through my veins. Arabian elixir floods my bloodstream; pupils dilate.
A Drug: borne into the moment;
Experience Peaks
I turn and rotate at incredible speed — spinning effortlessly — endlessly.
I am weightless; I can fly
A lifetime of baggage evaporates — my sins, forgiven.
I step forward and move a thousand feet. I can’t help but smile and when I do:
I receive a hug so forgiving I start to cry
And when I do:
rivers form, waterfalls rise out of the earth, mountains stretch shamelessly into the sky, birds take flight from every continent
And a new planet appears — one that loves me for who I am.

For a brief moment I dance in harmony with all twenty-one senses — I am alive.

For added emotion, reread the piece while listening to The Cinematic Orchestra (1998). Arrival of the Birds.
