Daily Haiku #26: Snow

a poem about recovery of the heart

I asked you to stay

you wouldn’t / I don’t know why

you left warmth for snow

This is to all the relationships that just don’t work out.

In the moment the breakup doesn’t make sense. What went wrong?

But as time passes, the incompatibility becomes more obvious.

Not being around the person all the time makes you realize that life is brighter without them.

The issues you told yourself were just little things were big things all along. They weren’t things you could just overlook, or overcome.

At first things are cold. Icy. Numb yet emotional. But then the snow melts, and your heart recovers. You learn to love again.
