Did you know there are phobias of sounds?

Misophonia is when a sound triggers an over-the-top reaction for a person, but doesn’t really seem to bother anyone else.

Phonophobia is a fear of loud sounds (also called ligyrophobia or sonophobia).

I don’t have either, but I do have sounds that make me quite uncomfortable. I don’t like sounds related to paper touching, like sides of a cardboard box scraping across each other. Or if someone lifts a stack of paper to set all the pages the same and they shuffle the paper on top of other paper. Just thinking about both of these sounds sets my teeth on edge.

What sounds make you uncomfortable?
