Summary

Katie Rodante shares her personal struggle with verbal expression and her subsequent reliance on haiku writing as a means to process emotions, part of a daily haiku project she began in 2020.

Abstract

The website presents a personal reflection by Katie Rodante, who describes her difficulty in articulating her thoughts and feelings verbally. Despite her efforts, Rodante finds her words jumbled, leading her to depend more on writing, particularly haikus, as a tool for emotional processing and introspection. This practice is part of a larger project she started in 2020, which includes a series of daily haikus. The first haiku, titled "Daily Haiku #1: Collecting Thoughts," touches on the challenge of conveying one's perspective effectively. The website also provides a link to the next poem in the series, "Daily Haiku #2: An Island In Bloom," and concludes with a brief biography of Rodante, detailing her transition from a paralegal career to her true passion for creative fiction.

a poem about explaining your side

Attempt at explanation

Lost in translation

Have you ever tried with all your might to explain your side to someone but you can’t get the words to come out right? Lately I’ve found my words to be so jumbled even though I try my hardest, and so I’ve turned even more to writing out my feelings-a way I have long used to process information and see how I really feel about things.

This is part of a daily haiku project I started in 2020.
