Cyberspace: The Spark of Life As We Know It

Prompt #2: What would your life be like without the internet?

It would be quiet, lonely, and boring. And that’s alright with me.

I listen to music, write, connect with myself and others all day through the internet. So, I’d be a little lost first without it. But I have a feeling I’d still find my way back to myself (and others) somehow if my dot.com world disappeared.

My brain immediately thinks optimistically about the things I could do without the internet that brings immense joy:

  • ride my bike
  • play my guitar
  • write in my journal with a pen
  • talk to other humans and fall in love with their facial expressions instead of googly-eyed emojis on screen.

Life would surely be different without an internet connection (and there would be a period of adjustment). But that said, I am confident I’d be happy with or without it. I would find a different way to connect and spend more time in places like the Redwoods.

Life would be quiet, lonely, and a little boring sometimes. And that’s alright with me.

Thank you, Ellie Jacobson! I am hugging you so tight right now — I hope you can feel it! ❤
