Prompt #50: A Sense of Purpose
Many of us spend the majority of our lives working and/or parenting. As we get older we transition away from this and into more unstructured time. This transition can be difficult for some, as a sense of purpose can be lost. Finding a new sense of purpose can be its own journey, one some take on more willingly than others. With that in mind:
Have you lost your sense of purpose at some point in your life? If so, how did you handle it? What gives you a sense of purpose now? Was the transition to unstructured time difficult or easy for you? Did you do anything to ensure you wouldn’t lose your sense of purpose as you’ve aged? Did other older people around you struggle with a loss of purpose? If so, what did you learn from them? Have you assisted others in finding a sense of purpose? If so, how?
Let us know about your experiences and help us navigate this stage.
