Summary

A 7-year-old girl named Clara is writing a book about a girl named Katie who receives an amulet that can take her anywhere, choosing to visit Candyland.

Abstract

Clara, a young author, has embarked on a creative journey to write a book inspired by a drawing of Candyland. Encouraged by her friend Jess, Clara has previously authored other titles, including "Ahh! (The Story of Splash Mountain)," "Ancient Egypt," and "Marquette Big East Tournament." On the day she started her new book, Clara had no idea she would be writing, but with paper, markers, free time, and a vivid imagination, she has made significant progress. The story follows Katie, who, on the eve of her birthday, receives a magical amulet from her friends that grants the power to travel anywhere. Katie chooses Candyland as her destination, and while Clara has hinted at a twist in the plot, she prefers to keep the details a surprise for her readers.

Opinions

  • Clara's creativity and initiative demonstrate that one doesn't need a formal book deal to become an author; simple tools and imagination are enough.
  • The author of the web content expresses admiration for Clara's imaginative capabilities and her dedication to her craft at such a young age.
  • There is an element of suspense and excitement conveyed about the book's plot, with a "twist" that is meant to entice readers to look forward to the completed work.

Creativity at play

My 7-year-old daughter is writing a book.

It started with a single drawing about a place called Candyland.

Then Jess planted the idea of a book.

It’s been awhile since Clara created a book. Previous volumes include books titled Ahh! (The Story of Splash Mountain), Ancient Egypt and Marquette Big East Tournament.

When Clara woke up this morning, she didn’t know she was going to write a book. But now here we are several pages into the illustrations.

It goes to show you don’t need a book deal to become an author. You just need some paper, magic markers, some free time and an imagination.

The book is about a nine-year-old girl named Katie. It’s the day before her birthday and her dad is making the cake and her mom is making lunch.

Her friends come over for the party and she gets an amulet for a present that can take you anywhere you want. She decides she wants to go to Candyland.

Beyond that set-up, Clara was reluctant to reveal the plot details.

“There’s a twist,” she said. “You’ll just have to read the rest.”

Stay tuned.
