There are various benefits to Cloud computing- scalability, cost effectiveness, reliability and peace of mind from maintenance and updates.

Google offers its own suite of cloud computing services known as GCP (Google Cloud Platform). Learning and implementing these services offered by Google is a big plus point for all engineers especially data engineers. Data engineers are responsible for handling huge data sets of any organisation and create pipelines so that the business can use the data effectively to be able to make better business decisions. GCP offers a free tier account for people wanting to explore the cloud services and implement some proof of concepts which can help them get a head start on mastering cloud concepts. I shall be demonstrating how you can create your free GCP account step by step in this article. You would need to enter your card details to create the account. Also you would need any google account you have created handy to create the GCP account.

Enter “google cloud console” on your google search and open the first link you see.

2. Once the cloud console landing page opens , click on the ‘start free’ option.

3. In the step 1 of 2 in the account information section, select the google account you want to choose for creating your GCP account and agree to the terms and conditions. If you are the rare species who reads all the contracts of the terms and conditions, well then kudos to you!

4. In the step 2 of 2 of the account information, you would be prompted to give your business name, card details and a few other details like Address, State, City, Postal Code etc.

5. Once all details are entered, you will need to click on ‘start my free trial’ at the end. Post which you will be re-directed to pay a small token amount of Rs.2 from the card details you enter. This is ensure the authenticity of the person and no further amount will be dedcuted without your approval.

6. Post successful payment, the GCP account is created and you are free to explore services in GCP.
