Crazy Tinder Statistics prove the Dating Game is hard for Men
Men need to level up
The 80/20 rule seems to apply to sexual attraction as well. Surely you have also observed that it is much easier for women on social media to attract attention from the opposite sex. Every reasonably pretty woman seems to be guaranteed several hundred likes and numerous male admirers in the comments. It’s a little different for men. A statistic published by the dating app Tinder provides us with more precise data on this phenomenon.
The cold hard numbers
This one will be hard to swallow for many men: A man of average attractiveness is “liked” by approximately 0.87% on women on Tinder. This is a whopping 1 in 115.
The average woman “likes” just 12% of men. However, this does not mean that every man is liked by 12% of women. If that were the case, the ratio of 1 in 115 would no longer be correct. In addition to the fact that women are extremely choosy, the likes are also very unevenly distributed. You can say that the bottom 80% of men (in terms of attractiveness) compete for the bottom 20% of women.
The top 80% of women, on the other hand, all want the top 20% of men. Looks like the winner (in this case the most attractive male) takes it all. So for the most attractive men, this is a blessing. For the average man, however, rather less.
From an evolutionary point of view, this makes perfect sense. Women have to try to find the best man they can get to ensure the survival of the offspring. Especially in the past, that was crucial. An interesting statistic says that our current population has about twice as many females as male ancestors. This means that men have a harder time choosing a mate, but the most attractive men have access to many women.
It seems that women are the gatekeepers to sex. And the bar to be let in is high. Especially nowadays this development is intensifying.
Women are more independent than in times past. Therefore, they no longer need to mate with men in order to be secured, but try to get the men they really want. In addition, the pool of possible competition is larger.
In the past, men only had to compete with the other men in their locality. Today, the dating field is globalized.
What do you do when a sports star texts your girlfriend on Instagram and invites her to his villa? Something similar has even happened to me personally. Maybe you’re lucky, maybe not. Remember, it’s in their DNA to find the best partner.
Don’t hate the game, play it.
What men can do about it
We can not change human nature. We can only accept reality and deal with it in the best possible way. In my humble opinion, this is becoming the best version of ourselves.
That’s why I think the worst option as a man is to despair and join the woman-hating incel movement, for example.
If you work hard on yourself and are in the top 20% of men, maybe even 10 or 5 %, nature plays into your cards and you are on the winning side. Try to get there.
Here are a few basics you can work on. Putting in the work can make a huge difference. Trust me.
- Build a great body in the gym
- Make more money
- Work on your social skills
