Crazy Misconceptions About Sales I Know You Have (& Need You to Toss Out of the Window)
So you can prosper from selling

Do you need to have something to sell, to sell?
I know it sounds wordy. But chew on that statement for a bit.
Does that line of thought reflect reality?
If you think so, allow me to break your mode of thinking.
Yes, sales is about selling.
But no.
Sales does not require us to have something to sell, to sell.
First, a Blank Page. Next, Words on a Blank Page
Book authors, online writers, bloggers, newsletter contributors, and social media influencers have 2 things in common.
- They work to monetize their words.
- They start from a blank page.
Yes. That flashing cursor. That dreaded idea drought. That annoying blank white page on Microsoft Word.
All these observations point to one universal common denominator.
Something comes from… nothing.
I repeat.
Something comes from… nothing.
That is right. Nothing.
It is we… who spit words from our restless minds into that white canvas that matters. We, not the white canvas, give us the ability to make a living online. Or offline.
Yet, we pay far too much attention to that white canvas.
I hear that all the time. You, too.
- “I don’t what to write.”
- “I am tired of typing my words into a Black Hole with no audience or fans.”
- “I don’t know whether my words are monetizable. Millions of people are writing what I write. Why would they read my work?”
I understand these sentiments. I have them, too.
They are buried deep in my subconscious, and they torture me when they decide to make an appearance within my numskull.
But.
You cannot try selling your words without typing your thoughts in words onto the white canvas.
So, yes. We can sell nothing.
That white canvas represents nothing.
That is… if we choose to let it stay white f-o-r-e-v-e-r.
We don’t have to. And we can populate that canvas with something. Our thoughts. Best part? That costs us nothing, too.
Time to think deeper.
Sales does not always have to start from something. Even if it does, something comes from nothing.
Harness the power of nothing.
Turn it into something.
And then sell it.
From Blank Pages to Write On to Blank Books for Sale
All books start from a blank page.
Essentially, nothing.
Many online writers create something from nothing. That something comes from the vastness and emptiness of our neurological circuitry.
- It comes from our life experience. Good and bad.
- Inspiration from all corners plays a part, too. That can be represented in good and bad ideas. It is the bedrock of human creativity.
And then, some intelligent writers or online contributors take this idea further. They start thinking about monetizing a blank page.
Say what?
Sounds unbelievable, I know.
You might even think I have stepped into the dark side. Have I gone bonkers?
I thought I had. But no. Reality is what it is.
Have you heard about no-content books?
These are books that have near-zero content. Not zero. Near-zero. Big difference.
If you think this sounds crazy fraudulent, close your eyes and think about these items… you have come across at least once in your life.
- Journals with red lines and without words.
- Calendar planners with motivational quotes and no deliberate writing from the ‘author’.
- Self-improvement or reflection guides with only 2 questions on a page and plenty of blank space for you to write something on?
The list is long. You get the idea.
Some writers are not out there to sell you their ideas. They want you to sell you your own ideas and words.
That is how they monetize a blank page.
They don’t write.
The buyers of that book with blank pages write.
I like this. Don’t you?
This is selling nothing at its best.
The Close
I hope you are convinced.
You don’t need to have something to sell, to sell.
Something starts from nothing. And nothing is what we all have.
That flashing cursor and white canvas is not meant to be a curse. Or writer’s block. Or idea drought. No.
It is the start of our sales journey.
You can sell the white canvas with your words on top. You can also sell the white canvas with some questions sprinkled on random spots of the sheet.
We can see this all around us when we pay attention.
- When we look hard enough.
- When we become curious.
- When we think deeper.
Yes. Go sell. Because you can.
Because you don’t need to have something to sell, to sell.
Sounds strange, I know.
But this is the truth.
