Craft Better Content: 5 Proven Tips To Enhance Your Copy
If you are anything like me, you self doubt your writing abilities often. After all, writing is subjective but there are some things we can do that make our writing a better read.
These are 5 proven tips to take your writing to the next level, and truly entertain your audience.
Keep It Simple
Short sentences, this is key. Just like George Orwell said:
“Never use a long word where a short word will do”.
Why? TikTok has destroyed everyone’s attention span, if you don’t interest your reader in the first 2 seconds they keep scrolling. Want them to read your entire copy?
Got to grab their attention, how?
Write Good Hooks
This is crucial in every piece of content you write:
- Email subjects
- Tweets
- DMs
- Blogs
A hook is the first thing the reader sees and it MUST grab their attention and MAKE them keep reading.
I have a blog available on Grabbing readers attention by creating irresistible hooks here:
Chill Out With The Adjectives
Your English teacher loved these, but in reality they just don’t work that well in marketing.
They add a lot of fluff when it’s not needed instead of allowing you to get to the point.
From now on try this:
- Replace Adjectives with Data.
Be bold
It is super important to be confident in your writing.
- This blog should improve your writing skills
Who honestly wants to read that? You aren’t confident in your own abilities and you think you can teach me?
Instead:
- This blog will improve your writing skills (add data if possible)
For example:
- This blog will improve your writing skills and add x amount of monthly views to your articles
Back your words up with data (Obviously if you have proof).
Show personality
I can see clearly when I’m reading something that hasn’t been written by the person that it is meant to be written by.
And if I can, so can others, your writing should have tone, it should sound like you in real life, it should be recognisable.
This is where AI content falls flat, I have been writing professionally for a year, and as a hobby for several years, and even I can tell AI writing a mile off.
