Cracked Eggs
A Poem On A Little Girl’s Anxiety
it was a school vacation time she being a bit nervous and introvert getting free time to spend all the time on herself and her little funs and creative activities was the best she could hope for at that time in her life
but somedays her mother asked her to buy some groceries for cooking from the nearby shop at a walkable distance from home
she reluctantly stops herself from her creative funs and walks towards the shop all the time thinking about what she was going to do afterward when she reaches home
her little mind brought up all creative possibilities that she could get to enjoy as soon as she reaches home
and one day as she handed over the cooking items and the balance money to mother at the kitchen and rushed back to play
but her mother who was having a rough day shouted her name and started scolding her brutally as she found a cracked egg in the cover
mother shamed and blamed her for not bringing the eggs properly without cracking them the little girl was terrified at her mother’s reaction such was the unexpected outburst from her mother it was too much for her
all joy of vacation slowly began to fade away for the sprouting of anxiety seeds in her little brain it started growing cruelly without asking for her permission like a tumor
that whenever it was time to buy anything she would have her breath blocked and chest pounding only to be relieved if eggs were not in the list
eggs became more important than her safety as it became connected with danger
when eggs were in the list whether it cracked or not she suffered the whole walk from home to shop and back
she did not worry if the street dog on the other side might hurt her but worried if it would lead to cracking of eggs
she held her breath as her mother unwrapped the cover but the mother did not sense anything her little daughter was going through
and so she spent her vacation in moments of anxiety and temporary forgetfulness for spaces of joy to arise
