Summary

The article discusses the concept of "Cosmic Drano" as a metaphor for clearing life's blockages to allow for a freer flow of experiences and emotions.

Abstract

The "Cosmic Drano" metaphor is used to illustrate the importance of releasing accumulated emotional and psychological blockages that hinder the flow of life, love, and stories through us. These blockages, formed during childhood and reinforced in adulthood, can dominate our existence, causing us to forget the natural state of flow that brings fulfillment. The article suggests that while it's challenging to let go of these blockages, especially when we identify with them, doing so is essential for experiencing life to its fullest. It humorously references a scene from the TV show "Big Bang Theory" to emphasize the point that releasing what we cling to can free us from entrapment, and it concludes by hinting at the broader concept of flow in relation to the universe, as explored in another article titled "Finding the Source."

Cosmic Drano

Releasing blockages

We want the universe to flow through us. We want stories to flow through us. We want life to flow through us. We want love to flow through us.

But we have so many blockages. Blockages have accumulated throughout our life. There is a ton of blockages that were put in place when we were children growing up; sometimes enough to fully keep the flow from coming through. As an adult we add new blockages while reinforcing the blockages from our youth.

Sometimes we get so completely blocked that nothing flows through us and we begin living exclusively from the blockages. The blockages take over and we forget all about the flow which, if allowed to flow freely and unimpeded, would bring us the life we want to live.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have some sort of Cosmic Drano to clear all the blockages away? Maybe some kind of plumber’s snake? Wouldn’t it be nice to feel the full force of the universe, of life, of love gushing in a torrent through us?

It is difficult to release blockages when we cling to them for dear life, thinking that they are what define us, thinking they are our destiny, our fate.

I am reminded of a snippet scene from the sitcom, Big Bang Theory. Mrs. Wollowitz gets her hand stuck in the garbage disposal, yelling to her son, “I’m stuck! I’m stuck!”

Her son yells back, “Just let go of whatever piece of food you’re holding onto.”

She lets go of a chicken leg and is then able to easily slide her hand out of the garbage disposal.

Who says there isn’t great wisdom on TV?
