Coronavirus In The Netherlands: Face Masks Obligated in Rotterdam and Amsterdam
New measurements in Rotterdam and Amsterdam.
Last week the boroughs of Rotterdam and Amsterdam have decided that they obligate everyone to wear face masks in crowded places, such as busy streets and shops. Everyone from 13 years or older must apply this measurement. Who is not applying this measurement will be fined if that person resists wearing face masks.
In every busy part of Amsterdam and Rotterdam, there are enforcers who ask friendly to people wearing their face masks.
Amsterdam
In diverse streets — where it is very busy — you must wear face masks. The streets in Amsterdam where you are obligated to wear face masks are ‘Kalverstraat’, ‘de Nieuwendijk’, op ‘de Wallen’, and the markets on the ‘Albert Cuypstraat’ and ‘Plein ‘40-’45’. Also in busy streets, you must wear them.
When you don’t wear face masks in these areas, you will be fined for €95,-. Some people think these new measurements are rediculous. Some people do it, and some people don’t and take the risk of getting fined. A market trader said that he sells face masks, but now there stands a car that gives them for free. Now his business is fo nothing.
One market trader said: “It’s not nice, honey,” said a fishmonger. A flower seller was not wearing the mask over the nose: “My glasses fog up when I do that. Then I don’t see anything.”
Rotterdam
The borough of Rotterdam obligated people to wear face masks in the following streets or busy places from today, Wednesday the 5th of August, in shopping areas in the center, such as on ‘the Coolsingel’, ‘Lijnbaan’, ‘Meent’ and around ‘the Nieuwe Binnenwegplein’. The obligation also applies to the markets on ‘the Visserijplein’, ‘Afrikaanderplein’, and ‘Binnenrotte’ and the covered shopping centers ‘Alexandrium’ and ‘Zuidplein’. The mouth mask requirement applies from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
In Rotterdam was a protest against wearing face masks. This protest was an illegal protest, and this protest was unannounced. So, the police took them away. It happened this morning, the 5th of August. A group of people made a walk from the Schouwburgplein to the town hall. About 50 demonstrators didn’t wear face masks.
In other parts of Rotterdam cyclists also forget to wear their face masks. That is obligated too.
