Cook For Yourself
Because you’re worth it
Before I moved out on my own the first time, I was always able to count on others to do the cooking. After I moved, microwave dinners or pre-cooked food were my go-tos.
Making anything that took more than fifteen minutes, or more than one pot, seemed too elaborate.
Why should I spend so much time and effort when it’s just going to be only for me?
Well, the answer is simple.
It’s because I’m worth it. And you are, too.
When I started taking the time to actually prepare myself something from scratch, it changed my relationship with myself, and boosted my overall happiness.
I was showing myself love, care, patience, and kindness… something that should not only be reserved for when cooking for others. Me treating myself well set the tone on how I expect others to treat me, which led to eliminating relationships that were no longer serving me. It was a good ripple effect.
Food also powers us to do all the things we want to do. Take care of what you put in your body, because as Warren Buffet says, you only have this one ‘car’ for the rest of your life, and it’s in your best interest to maintain it for long.
Making a meal for yourself is much more than just a chore; it’s a privilege, and it should be taken as such. You are worth the time, effort, and skills required to loving you on a daily basis.
