20-DAY POETRY CHALLENGE

Conversation With Myself

A poetry prompt for day 12

Photo by Joyce McCown on Unsplash

Dear ME,

Hey, you awe-inspiring self I know you are tired I know how you feel when you have no one to talk to

I am simply ecstatic I can have chitchat with you at least I know someone’s listening I wanna find out soon what you’re thinking this is why I do then

in case you didn’t know I don’t wanna miss half of my life, not talking to someone so exotic, amazingly incomparable, as lovable a person like YOU

why are you sad?

wait, don’t you understand that you are feeling gloomy because you are always listening to me? what you should do then is — CONVERSE WITH ME instead!

you will uncover what you think when you discuss with me

furthermore, I need proficient advice erstwhile, thus, I need to speak to you and you, to me

P.S. stop questioning keep trying keep on moving be confident be proud of who you are do you get it?

Love, ME

Having conversations with oneself is best done through writing like scarcely what I did. But if you intend to let people leave you alone or go away, yes, talk to yourself out loud, like while walking on the street. Try it!

Kidding aside, it helps to have some conversations with ourselves every day for we are able to know what is inside of us. Some say it is a genius attitude, some say you are other than sane. More so when you tell yourself to keep repeating what you have said.

Just one piece of advice though, converse with yourself as though you are speaking to someone you love, and be cautious because YOU are listening.

This free-verse poetry is for my friend Sahil Patel’s 12th day prompt of the 20-Day Poetry challenge. Thank you so much, Sahil, for the tag. You may check out his version below:
