Summary

The poem "Control Freak" reflects on the compulsion to control others' actions and the importance of respecting individual autonomy and freedom of choice.

Abstract

The poem "Control Freak," presented on the undefined website, delves into the psychological aspects of needing to dictate others' behaviors and actions, questioning whether this control is a natural inclination or a response to external stimuli. It challenges the reader to consider the impact of such behavior on others' satisfaction and the joy derived from personal accomplishment. The author ponders whether the need for control is rooted in genetics or a deeper, unexplored aspect of the self. Emphasizing the value of personal choice, the poem suggests that different paths can lead to the same destination, advocating for mutual respect in the choices individuals make.

Is it an addiction to find yourself needing To decide for others the right way To behave, the right way to carry out or perform an act? To always be in control in every situation No matter how simple the task. The orders Always come in from what must be, almost a reaction.

Does it never bother you to not take peoples Feelings into account? how they may possibly enjoy Doing something their own way, finding satisfaction In a job well done, or just even being left alone.

Is it painful to leave well alone? Do you need to see The task performed more quickly, more efficiently So as not to grate on your nerves? Or is it something Which lays deep inside, untouched with no desire to explore?

It could be something simple where genetics hold the key? If so maybe it’s just a natural need for nurture, Something I have no desire for or to perform.

My freedom of choice is what’s important to me, As too is your freedom of choice, You take the plane, I take the train, the arrival is just the same.

Thank you Suntonu Bhadra For giving my words a platform here at Paper Poetry. Thank you all for reading and your precious time. Always. J.
