Contentions are a bane to writing

and you know what I’m talking about

Don’t you know? Writers on Medium know that writing is dependent on Readers or reading others' work. Yet how many of us actually have regular readers? I wonder. Email subscribers, I appreciate you! But once again the contention I feel is that none of my subscribers or only a few actually read my writing. I cannot possibly reciprocate 1.2k subscribers or readers!! The recommended amount of reading per day isn’t something I attend to knowing. Numbers are not my bag.

So my main contention is that if I do a certain routine and people come to expect this then the readers drop off to zero when I don’t produce something daily or continue as I have been doing.

I guess I have to reiterate. I have a life to live and I’m doing it. This means I’m in a phase where I need to reorganize. Am I professional or not? I suppose that after writing for 20+ years you become that with or without a degree in English or Journalism or whatever. Isn’t it?!
