What is the primary purpose of commenting?
Commenting should be leveraged for profile views; it is not a sales opportunity. It is an opportunity to gain recognition and build trust. It is your chance to show what you’re made of.
And I really hope it’s not “sales pitches”. Commenting is a means of connecting with other people, but it must also add value to the topic or conversation.
Therefore you need to actually read what you are about to comment on. So that you can add value, for instance. Let’s just say a topic is about using plugins and browser extensions.
Then your comment can include a few related plugins or tools not included in the article. That is your opportunity to add value and get noticed, and a simple “Great”, or “Nice article” is not it.
You want to highlight a sentence or paragraph related to your comment in Medium. Then leave a comment along with the highlighted text, it draws more attention.
In light of your comment being required to offer value, for the purpose of this demonstration and topic. A comment as suggested below might be more attractive with a much larger impact.
“Thank you for an outstanding article, and well written too. These are powerful tools you are mentioning, and although I use most of them. Allow me to add that I also use SEO Quake, Pretty Links Lite, and Similarweb for research and link cloaking. Have a lovely day…”
You are not commenting to try and generate sales, you are commenting because you enjoy talking to people. And in doing that you will slowly start to attract the “masses” to your professional online profiles.
From your professional online profiles with various online networking sites, you want to cross-link between them. But we will get to that in a bit because profile linking is an excellent way to boost views.
Wait ‘till you read how that can drive traffic from multiple niches and funnel it down to one primary niche. Sounds weird, I know, but it does not change the fact that it clearly works.
Why profile linking is so important to growth
Profile linking, to my surprise, can result in rather unexpected growth over time. Placing exclamation on “over time!”. It can take weeks or days, or it can take months and even years.
It all depends on the level of your knowledge and the quality of the content in your professional profile feeds. But is also reliant on consistency with both engagement and content posting.
With “profile linking” of course, you can target niches slightly outside your own. But with people who might also be interested in your primary niche. Let me explain.
Below you can see a screenshot of my TikTok profile, as mentioned in other posts. I link from my TikTok profile to my Medium profile where affiliate links are present in my Medium stories. Just another strategy.

But, with TikTok videos, I target mainly funny videos, inspirational videos, and music videos. But why is that? That is because you need to understand the purpose, or what people are mainly looking for with each platform.
With TikTok, people are looking for entertainment, not promotional content. But that is already covered in a TikTok content marketing strategies post on Medium titled “TikTok Marketing Guide To Make Money Online!”
Therefore, with my TikTok profile, I am targeting marketing and making money online with the title and bio. But I create funny videos, inspirational videos, and music videos to drive more people to my profile.
That way, I am targeting high-volume hashtags for “funny”, “inspiration”, “motivation”, “music”, and “videos” on TikTok. And the traffic that lands on my TikTok profile is redirected to Medium.
When you upload a video to TikTok again, do yourself a favour and check out these hashtags and their sub-hashtags on TikTok. They have Billions of searches per month!

For the purpose of this demonstration, I am primarily focusing on showing you how to link to Medium. But there are several ways with different platforms that you can link to all your professional profiles.
As you can see with Twitter, in the above illustration. I am primarily redirecting to Medium because I am currently testing content marketing strategies to grow on Medium…fast.
However, where the opportunity presents itself you should cross-link between all your professional online profiles. It will boost your growth, but the key is to be active on your profiles.

That is the real challenge because keeping up with quality content on multiple platforms at the same time is nearly impossible. That is why you should grow one platform until you see consistent growth.
Then focus on the next, as I am doing at the moment, primarily focusing on Medium. Once I have reached my goal of consistent views per day, I will focus on the next again.
Although most of my profiles, like Quora, for instance, receive around 30K content views per month on autopilot. Without me posting a single thing. But it took a lot of work to create that “snowball effect”.
As you can see above with YouTube, I am linking to all major platforms where I am most active. Including Medium of course. But I also have multiple YouTube channels (14). All different niches.
You guessed it, yes, I link from all relevant YouTube channels to my Medium profile. It is a real time-consuming strategy, but well worth the time and effort when it comes to “free traffic”.
As you can see with Quora below, you do not have exactly the same profile-sharing options. Therefore, you might want to leverage your profile description. And include, among other professional profiles, your Medium profile.

Personally, I prefer using a similar profile linking strategy with Medium. By leveraging the “About” page, I will then include links to my other professional online profiles.
But with all my professional profiles, I also like to include contact details so people can email me for instance. But I do not necessarily share my email address. Except for LinkedIn where the following does not work.
Instead of revealing your email address, highlight a text area like “Email Me”, or “Contact Me” and then link to your email address. This is done by using the word “mailto” right before your email address.
So, you will then link the text you chose for people to contact you via email and link to the following (mailto:your-email-address). With no spaces.
Now when someone clicks on the text area, their “new email” window will automatically open so they can email you directly. Just some of the “tricks” I picked up along the way.
You can see that demonstrated in the Medium screenshot below. Where I use the text “Click HERE To Contact Me Via Email”, and then use the “HERE” part to link to the “new email” automated redirect.

Using your “About” or “Profile Description” areas is very important, you must complete those as professionally as possible. If you claim to be a professional, then your profile needs to “say so”.
Apart from leveraging these “about” profile areas to link to other professional profiles, you now also know how to apply automated emailing options. Pretty cool by just adding a single word, right?
By now I am sure you can see both the simplicity and importance of linking between professional profiles. Leveraging the “about” or “description” areas of profiles can include.
Blogs And Websites.
Other Professional Profiles.
Contact Details.
Online Stores.
But these are just a few options, as long as you never try and share affiliate links. That is what things like YouTube Videos, Blogs, Websites, Medium Stories, LinkedIn Articles, Bridge Pages, Online Stores, and Landing Pages are for.
Results of powerful content and comments
I nearly fell off my chair this morning when my average views on Medium went from around 50 to 100 views per day. Then just took off and reached 327 views for the day (24 hours).
However, what surprised, or shocked me even more, I’m not quite sure which yet. Is the fact that I have already crossed 200 views, in the last 8 hours! Being only a third of the 24-hour daily window.
I cannot wait to see where this is going to end up in 24 hours. If it only took 8 hours to cross 200 views (212 actually), and the views are increasing as I write this article right before my eyes.
It is now 09:00 on my side in South Africa, so I have reached the 9-hour mark of the next 24 hours. Below is a screenshot of the real-time analytic result from Medium at the time of writing this article.

And this is what is currently happening, a screenshot of my daily Medium growth during the time of writing one article (at the end of this chapter)! Most of these views and incredible growth are from only 4 Medium stories.
I have already published 153 Medium stories, including this one. And I think I will be needing clean underwear should but half my Medium stories (around 80), take off in the same manner!
It’s both exciting and strangely frightening to just think about that. As it stands, the 100 comments limit within 24 hours on Medium is becoming a challenge.
And if that is so with but 4 articles, then I think I’m going to need a lot more than 100 comments within 24 hours to keep up with 88 articles! Although I doubt, I will be able to though.
Yes, I have been making money online for quite some time now. But nothing all that spectacular, like thousands or tens of thousands of dollars per day. No, I don’t make that much with affiliate marketing…yet.
With everything falling into place, I am rather confident that I am not that far from being “next level”. Although I have only been on Medium since October 2022.
I have been online since 2011. This means I am now fortunate enough to have an arsenal of knowledge! Knowledge, which I gladly share, especially content marketing and growth strategies!
Compare these two analytic screenshots. That was the growth during the time it took me to write a single article for Medium. I don’t know about you, but for some, this might not seem much.
For me, this is quite the reward. Hard work does pay off, especially when you take your time and pay attention to detail. But admittedly, after many years of failure. It seems that everything I did online to date, is just kind of like “falling into place”.
In the time it took me to write this article, my Medium views just exceeded yesterday’s maximum of 327, reaching 422 views! And I will have you know; that it is at around the “halfway” mark of the 24-hour analytic window compared to yesterday.
I have also gained 21 followers, and 3 medium subscribers, along with 27 responses! Okay, the article did take me a while to write. That however matters not that much, the point is that the growth exploded.
Proving that my strategy works! That is the real reward when you figure out your own content marketing strategies! Coming up with ideas, testing them and then keeping the ones that work! It is however rather addictive I must warn you.

What you must never do with commenting
Never share any links or personal details in any comments. It is not a sales or lead generation opportunity. It is an engagement opportunity. When your content is valuable enough, you will get profile views.
In the event, someone does ask you to share some advice on a certain topic that may require a link. Be sure you have an article covering the topic on sites like Medium and LinkedIn for instance. Then include the article title.
If the person is really interested to know more, then they will search for the article in your profile feed. Sharing any kind of links in the comments makes me really uncomfortable.
And I am also really cautious when people share links and details in comments on my work. Non-relevant comments and responses like that get deleted. Because my hard work is not someone else’s spamming opportunity!
As mentioned earlier in this article, your purpose is to add value to the conversation or article topic. Posting links and personal details in comment sections do not offer value.
If you want to get recognized and trusted as a professional in your field, then prove to your audience that you are. With professionally completed profiles, linking to one another. That is how you leverage engagement.
How to increase consistency with Medium stories
You can use Medium to maintain consistency by writing Medium stories, and engagement. But you must also use the sharing options provided. You can share your stories on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
But with the Facebook sharing option on Medium, you also want to share on Facebook groups and pages. Or you can simply share the Medium story in your Facebook profile feed, and then share to groups and pages from there.
With LinkedIn, there are also LinkedIn groups, just like Facebook. So you can really leverage a rather large audience, especially when you have your own LinkedIn and Facebook groups and pages.

With linking between professional online profiles, it is much like building a network of multiple automated and targeted traffic streams. But you need to put in the work, and you need to provide the relevant content.
Content marketing strategies are really interesting to figure out, but the waiting and editing are where the frustration starts. Because not everything you test is going to work.
You will not succeed more than you fail, because that is not how digital marketing works. In fact, that’s not even how life works! You will always fail a lot more than you succeed. The question is: “How far and for how long are you willing to go?”.
Will you keep going until you succeed? Or are you just going to keep going until you grow tired of trying? That is the difference between failure and success because you only fail when you give up.
And the really successful online marketers are merely the ones that refused to give up until they succeeded! Against all odds, and against all doubt, they just kept pushing forward!
