Columbus: A Tale of Deceit
A poem

I am a teacher and I have Columbus day off yearly. This lie has tortured me since I found out the truth. We shove this revisionist history down the throats of students around the nation. Columbus was never in North America. He didn’t press one Italian shoe into the shores of this country. However, we have a day off to celebrate a man who only brought disease and ushered in the eradication of millions of Native Americans. I had to write the poem below. My disdain demanded it. I hope you enjoy my efforts.
Columbus a fake who murdered thousands with diseases carrying death on little ships across a canvas of deep blue a lie told to school kids by smiling teachers stoking the fires of deceit
Lost like a small child in a shopping mall misnames a great nation of people Indians Never gazed on North American shores laid in the Carribean wearing a dunce cap while ushering in the eradication of millions
a smiling devil filled with trickery a drunken sailer given a loan to really get lost
tell the tales of African’s who arrived and mingled with humanity Mansa Musa sailed the seas before Columbus and created cultures told stories under trees and loved without prejudice
