College Football Bets for 11/21
We’re back with another slate of college football bets. Last week we went 2–1 with our bets. Some bets popped out to me as some good plays and I posted some free plays on Twitter. If you aren’t following me there feel free to do so @thekrisbets so you can check out the bets I came up with after publishing the blog for the week. Now let’s get into a review on our last week’s bets before looking toward this Saturday.
What Went Right?
Last week we saw Illinois finally playing at full strength against Rutgers. I figured it would be a close game and betting Illinois was the smart play because it gave us an extra 7 points to help put us over for the win. The game ended up 23–20 with an outright win for Illinois to give us our first win of the weekend. Our second win came from taking a well-rested Tulsa at home against SMU. We had Tulsa -3 and they won the game 28–24.
What Went Wrong?
I said I was apprehensive taking Virginia Tech for a second week in a row after they had burned me the previous week. I should have trusted my gut as they fell to Miami in a very close 25–24 game.
College Football Bets
The first game I’m looking at for Saturday is a bit of a mystery. Arkansas started off as a 3 point favorite over LSU when the lines first posted. As of Wednesday evening it’s shifted all the way to LSU as 2.5 point favorites. The public may have all jumped on LSU but I’m not buying it. LSU Tigers’ starting QB Myles Brennan is out for the season. TJ Finley has looked okay since taking over but he’s a true freshman that got thrown into this spot a bit unexpectedly. When it comes to the rush the Tigers rank 104th in rushing offense. It feels like a rebuilding year for LSU. Arkansas is playing stronger than expected so far this season with 3 conference wins under their belt. They’re playing well together as a team and I’ll gladly take 2.5 points in a game that I think Arkansas can win outright at home.
Illinois gave us a nice win last weekend as they got themselves their first win of the year. Nebraska is also coming off of their first win of the season with a very close 7 point victory over an underperforming Penn State. This is a battle between two teams with only 1 win but Illinois had a lot of players out at the start of the season. Now that they’ve put their Covid issues behind them they came away with the win. This Saturday they’re 14.5 point underdogs to a Nebraska team that doesn’t deserve to be such a strong favorite. I’m not suggesting that Illinois will get their second win in a row but they should be able to keep it within 2 touchdowns.
One of the better games to watch this weekend is between two ranked teams when the Wisconsin Badgers travel to Northwestern to take on the Wildcats. Both teams have strong defenses and they’re calling for rain and wind this upcoming Saturday afternoon. I see a lot of running plays from both teams while each facing strong rush defenses. This will run the clock down in what I feel should be pretty evenly matched. I see this game staying within a touchdown and that’s why I like Northwestern +7.5 here.
The Arizona Wildcats will be traveling to Washington to take on the Huskies. Both teams started their season last week. Arizona fell short with a 4 point loss. Washington defeated Oregon State in a game that stayed within one score for the majority of the game. Washington is at home and came off looking like the better team after last weekend but I don’t know if they should be double digit favorites here. I like Arizona +11.5 to keep it close.
The Kris Bets This…
NCAAF (13–9) (59.09%) (+3.1 units)
Arkansas +2.5 Illinois +14.5 Northwestern +7.5 Arizona +11.5
Looks like we’re rooting for the underdogs this Saturday in college football. As always I took these lines from Draftkings. Please remember to shop lines with Fanduel or anywhere else available to you. If any more college bets come to me after this posts you can always follow me on Twitter @thekrisbets to stay updated. Friday I’ll have my NFL Week 11 bets so please stop back for that. Best of luck everyone!
