College Basketball Bets for 12/2
After starting off the season on Monday going 2–0 we ended up going 0–2 last night. My strategy for this season is to find the slight underdogs that have a good chance to win the game and large underdogs that are mispriced. Unfortunately for us, last night was one of those nights where a lot of the favorites covered the huge spreads set for them. We can’t let a bad day discourage us so we’ll review what went wrong, learn from it, and then look towards tonight’s slate in College basketball bets for 12/2.
What Went Wrong?
The first game we had looked at was Prairie View A&M but they were postponed due to Covid. We liked Oakland +21.5 against Purdue. Oakland hadn’t won a game but they were narrowing the margin of their losses each game including taking Michigan into overtime. I’m afraid that might say more about Michigan than it did for Oakland because they looked awful against Purdue as they lost 93–50. Central Michigan was a team that I thought could win as an underdog as they battled the Florida International Panthers. FIU came to play distancing themselves quite a bit in the 2nd half as they went on to win 96–76.
Tonight’s College Basketball Bets for 12/2
We did well on Monday by betting against Xavier and I’m planning on going to the well again tonight. We targeted Xavier because they had been playing many games in a short period of time and their recent wins were all by 3 points or less. Since that blog they went on to win Monday night, in overtime, by just 3 points. Tonight they’ll be hosting Tennessee Tech who lacked in offensive efficiency in their two losses so far this season. Xavier hasn’t been able to cover the spread since after their first win this season and if Tennessee Tech can get their shots to land they should stay within the 22.5 points.
The Arkansas St Red Wolves will be traveling to Memphis to take on the Tigers. Neither team has started off on the right foot this season. Arkansas St has lost both of the games they’ve played but they’ve kept the games close and their defense is playing a huge part in doing so. Memphis will eventually improve as the season goes on but for now they’re 1–2 and struggling on the offense. Between the Red Wolves defense playing well and the Tigers offense coming up short this looks like it’ll be a low scoring game. That will greatly benefit betting the underdog as Memphis is favored by -20. Memphis is the better team and should win but I think it’ll be within 20 points.
The final spot that I like is the Texas-Arlington Mavericks against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Arkansas has come out strong to start the season but the Mavericks haven’t been a slouch on offense either. Although I see a lot of scoring from each side I still think Texas-Arlington can keep it within 14 points for the cover.
