Collecting Moments

October Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Collections”

Collecting moments to share with others

To glance at the above photo, one might see a river with wildflowers flowing from its banks as the sun is beginning to set. But what I see is a moment and a sweet memory.

To simply say I collect photographs, would leave out a vital element of the collection. Every photograph has some memory or meaning attached to it. Each photo is taken in loving memory of a moment that has passed.

The photo transports me back to when it was taken. Suddenly, I’m basking in the stillness of the setting sun again. I’m slowly breathing in the air around me and feeling the rush of fresh ripe energy. I’m once again meditating upon nature and taking in the minute details of the moment.

Prior to taking this photo, I perched myself on an old swing and imagined how many feet might have trod this land. How many eyes have been blessed by this view of nature? How many storms have these trees weathered? How much longer will they stand? I felt a moment of gratitude and I collected it.

The greatest joy in collecting moments comes in sharing them with other people. I hope this photo gives you a moment of peace to add to your collection.
