Cold
I can feel it in my bones
I can feel it in my bones Winter winds are creeping Moments fill with morning chill And cold draughts come seeping.
Underneath the doorways Rising from the floor A cold wind there to greet me When I open the door.
Days are dark till later The sun hovers too low A fire to warm the frosty corners Down south’s covered in snow.
The wind has penetration The air is icy cool My lips and nose are freezing| The Bay glitters like a jewel.
The stars have better clarity And twinkle in the sky In the frosty morning They fall from up on high.
And light up the heavens And illuminate the smear Of the wintry darkness At dawn they disappear.
The dog and cat that chased the rat Avoid the winter storm And Pedro our pet pug dog Is wrapped up to keep warm.
Cold sharpens our senses And accelerates the circulation Though in our minds we’re searching For a warm northern location.
