Coffee is healthier than you think
Coffee lovers can rip the benefits of drinking coffee
I am a huge fan of coffee and I can’t imagine my life without it. A cup of coffee every morning gives me the right dose of energy and strength to tackle my day. It is always there for me when I need a quick pick me up. I’d die for a freshly brewed cup filled with aroma- one sip and you’re taken to another dimension. I’d rather skip on dinner than skip on my morning cup of Joe! I must sip it with every dessert.
Last but not least, I cannot be a workaholic without being a coffeeholic. If I’m in a writing mode, I must have it by my side to get my creative juices flowing. With that said, I love taking short coffee breaks throughout the day!
I can endlessly ramble about coffee, but in this article, I’d like to focus on the BENEFITS of drinking coffee, which will blow your mind away.
According to research, coffee is a healthy beverage if consumed in moderation (3–5 cups per day). It is rich in Vitamin B2 (riboflavin), magnesium, and polyphenols. It also contains antioxidants that help fight free radicals our body produces in response to aging.
Moderate coffee consumption (3–5 cups) of coffee daily can reduce the risk of some diseases. Pregnant women however should limit it to two cups of coffee per day. If you are sensitive to caffeine, you can opt for decaffeinated coffee and still rip the same health benefits as drinking caffeinated coffee.
Coffee lowers the risk of Type 2 diabetes.
Researchers found that coffee decreased the risk of type 2 diabetes by 11% in people who increased their consumption to at least one cup per day. In another study, they also found that people had a lower risk of metabolic syndrome if they drank four to six cups of coffee each day, caffeinated or decaffeinated.
Coffee reduces the risk of Parkinson’s disease and liver cancer.
According to research, people who consume more coffee have a much lower risk of developing Parkinson’s disease.
Coffee also reduces the risk of liver cancer by 40%, and according to Italian researchers, the risk decreases down to 50% if you drink up to three cups a day.
In all, drinking a moderate amount of coffee every day offers health benefits as well as protection from diseases, as mentioned above. If you are a coffee lover like me, drinking 2–3 cups of coffee a day will not hurt you but support you in your journey towards a healthier lifestyle. So, next time you feel you have an excuse to take a coffee break, go for it and enjoy it!
