Note: This challenge was first published on Substack.

First and foremost, I have to share that I’m extremely honored to be able to share the next Coffee Times Challenge! I’m so excited! If you don’t know anything about me, I am the editor in charge of the travel prompts that are up every Tuesday.

I have been fortunate enough to have traveled to so many marvelous places and I am in love with all the next possibilities that have yet to come. Since traveling has been a key factor in who I am today, I would like to see who else has had a travel experience that has changed your life.

But there is a slight twist! If you have followed the Travel Column, you would have seen that a few of the past prompts have been written in a different poetry format. It was in itself quite different as I have always shared essays about traveling so I wanted to try something new.

Who wouldn’t like to take a challenge in writing about your life experiences and lessons, while also trying out different writing styles?

I am too a writer who likes to play around with many niches and also writing methods so why not get creative in this challenge?! It can be any style you’d like!

So the challenge is to write about your most endearing lessons while traveling whether they were because of cultural differences or anything similar! You just have to write it in the most creative and innovative way possible. I bet we would all like to read about your wholesome experiences!

Rules of the CC5

  1. You must tag Winston and me in your response so that we can analyze which entries are correctly provided for this challenge.
  2. Your piece must be published with Coffee Times Medium.
  3. You may have many traveling lessons that you would like to share but you can only submit one entry for this challenge so we suggest you focus all of your innovative creativity on this one response.
  4. You can choose your own main title, but the subtitle must be “In response to CC5: My life lesson while traveling”.
  5. Within your article, you must share that it’s your response to the CC5 article so that it can reach more people and also allow them to participate.
  6. Use both ‘Coffee Times Movement’ and ‘Travel’ tags.
  7. There is no need to give a shoutout.
  8. Last but not least, you must have fun! There are writers who have humbly shared that they are trying new styles and getting out of their comfort zone thanks to these prompts so I think this challenge can really bring another part of your artistry out.

As you see, there are not that many rules and this is intended to provide you with the freedom to experiment and create your own style while having your travels in mind. I hope you enjoy the process and share your journeys with all of us. 🌎

Measures of Effectiveness

The success of your article is measured by the following:

  1. Your article MUST garner at least 1000 claps to qualify. The more, the better. My advice would be to share your piece with all your friends you have within the community and tag people who you think would like your writings or who would also like to participate in the CC5. 👏
  2. You must also engage with other participants and also follow up with the help of your own claps.
  3. If we have many participants with 1000 claps, we will have a finale! The winner will be chosen by the number of votes you get from fellow participants. 🏆
  4. There will be a Google Forms that will later be provided in which all the participants and editors can freely cast their vote. ✌️

Prize

The top-performing writer with the most votes will walk away with US$50! Getting money for sharing your passion?! C’mon! What else could be better?! 💲 💲

Note: The prize will be kindly provided by Winston via Buy Me a Coffee or Ko.fi websites.

IMPORTANT! — Deadline

  1. The deadline for this challenge is April 1. 🎯
  2. After the deadline for this challenge, you will have an extra week to gather those claps! To do so, you will have up to April 8. I know you can do it! 👍
  3. There will be one week to vote and the winner will be announced on April 15. Sounds fun? 👌

Advice

Promoting yourself as a writer is always a must so sharing the word to your submission is a great tip to get your article out and get those claps.

Pst pst….I bet that if you tag all of the Coffee Times Editors, they will lend a hand. 😃
