The world’s problems — pandemic, climate change, nuclear weapons, extremism, racism, war — are desperate and intractable. Disclosure of UAP reality could show us that we are more alike than different.

Is it time for the ultimate Hail Mary? Is it time to just get the inevitable UFO/UAP reality, big “D” Disclosure over with, once and for all? How bad do things really have to get before we realize that we have nothing to lose by just coming out and saying it?

We are not alone. We have company — non-human company — right here on Planet Earth. Now let’s get to work.

See? That wasn’t so hard.

The Three Big Problems We Are Not Solving

On the Medium site, writer Umair Haque has turned cataloguing the dire state of the world into something of a cottage industry. He’s a riveting writer who makes the argument over and over again about how little time we have to get our act together to even semi, sorta, save ourselves.

Haque sees this as an existential three-part challenge:

• Climate Change
• Mass Extinction
• Extremism

As he states in a recent article, We Have Just One Decade Left to Fix the Future:

We have about a decade. Until what? For what? To right humanity’s ship, my friends. Do you think we are anywhere near ready for that task? Are we even undertaking it — let alone aware of it as the challenge of this century, this generation, this age?

It’s every bit as significant as a great world war. As a supervolcano. It’s even more dire than Covid. Its irreversibility, lethality, things that we can’t later change getting locked in, baked in, hardwired. Humanity’s three great existential threats are going to reach a point of irreversible lethality in a decade. A point where it’s game over — the future’s locked in, and it’s a horrific one.

After reading that report from nearly 200 scientists convened by the United Nations, U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres called this first piece (climate change) a “code red for humanity.” As for the second piece (mass extinction), we already know that the loss of species diversity is well underway. These are facts, and the report is not wrong, nor are the scientists, despite attempts by the third rail of disaster (extremism) to look the other way.

Part of this cake is already baked. Based on where we are today, dwindling ice sheets, rising sea levels and changes in the oceans as they lose oxygen and become more acidic will be “irreversible for centuries to millennia,” according to the report.

We already know this. We know the truth. We just aren’t doing much about it, and certainly not enough to get right with the Earth.

Our planet, our only planet, is burning now, and it’s not getting better. Our descendants are going to look back on 2021 as the good old days. Before the entire planet was either a fire or a flood zone, before we killed off nearly 80 percent of all species, before the ecosystem collapsed, before we became a world of refugees, before fascism and nationalism ended democracy.

Whether your politics allow you to like the U.N. or not, what their report says is really just speaking the truth. It’s bad, it’s getting worse by the day, month and year, and the only way to mitigate (not reverse) these disastrous effects is to immediately get our act together during an extremely brief window that is clearly closing before our very eyes.

How, in a horribly divided world that is trying to fend off political disaster from multiple fronts, can we find the political will to actually get this job done?

The truth is, the way things are now, the way our status quo sucks so badly, we can’t. Or we won’t (which is the same thing).

We need a near immediate embrace of the idea that the Earth and our environment have to be valued with the highest possible priority. It seems impossible.

However, a game changer of astonishing magnitude could give us a fighting chance.

Shifting the Paradigm Overnight

The job, of course, is to get humans to stop fighting wars with each other that are both literal and political and to embrace our common interests.

We need to see humanity as the special form of life that we are. We need to see the abundance of life on the Earth as an extremely rare and valuable thing just because it exists. And we need to see the Earth as the most perfect home that could possibly be devised for human life.

There is only one game changer that could get the job done.

We need to admit, on a global basis, that another, supremely advanced intelligence — maybe one, but possibly many — has been interacting with humanity for a good long while now. Those who’ve kept it secret need to apologize. Those who are angry about that need to forgive. We need to pivot hard and fast to a new way of looking at life on Earth.

Don’t look for these Others to swoop in and save us from nuclear weapons or ecological collapse. The only rational way for us to look at them now is that they are observers. That’s probably a good thing. These problems are not theirs to fix, but ours. Earth is our home.

These existential world threats need the unpredictable jolt that acknowledging the truth about contact with another intelligence will bring. It may be the only action that allows us to see ourselves commonly enough to help each other as neighbors which, cosmically speaking, we most certainly are.

The problems faced by the world — pandemic, climate change, nuclear proliferation, tribalism, war, racism — are so desperate and so intractable that the only solution that may work is telling the truth about UAP reality. It may show us, finally, that we are more alike than different.

Pattern Interrupt

Knowing only that we are not alone has the power to instantly get humans working together on the same side. Given that humans are tribal folk who love team sports, the problem today is how we all see ourselves playing on different teams. Disclosure has the possibility of putting us all on the same side.

The status quo has never looked shakier. There is a power in boldness. And if ever there was a time for it, and a subject that lent itself to acting without fear, it would be this one.

Ending the truth vacuum right now could be both a symbolic bombshell as well as a tangible expression that the government wants to kindle more trust from its citizens. It could usher in a new era that is not only cosmic in nature on the one hand, but down to Earth and relevant to relations between human beings on the other.

Between black and white. Red and blue. The U.S. and other nations. Us and them. No, we will not all join hands, sing kumbaya, or pass the pipes of peace. That may never happen.

Yet don’t underestimate the excitement, wonder and fascination that Disclosure would provide for humanity. Knowing about our place in the Universe can even be viewed as a divine birthright given to all people just for being born in this world.

Civilization needs Disclosure. It may literally be the inflection point that allows us to take a step back and reevaluate what we’re doing.

We don’t have much choice. Every day we maintain the secrecy of the past 75 years, every day we pretend these vehicles might be made by Russia or China, every day that we refuse to just level with the people of the world, well, every single one of those days is a wasted day, and we simply have no more time. We have a lot of work to do, and need to just get on with it.

People get ready.
