Cobbled Together
A Poem
I feel cobbled together; piece by piece like a scrappy quilt crafted by a beginner without a needle I pull from here, pull from there make things work glue up the broken spots, or lacking glue, I use tape or string I do my best, despite not knowing how to sew pulling and tying knots, seeing some beauty in the ragtag patching in the raggedness that is me, really, not knowing how to sculpt things anew, but constantly trying to work with what I have and make it as new as possible wanting the new, wanting people to let the new happen and to realize the moment is all we ever have even if it is a hodgepodge even if it is a mashup even if it takes from all it can grasp, in its patchwork hands even if things slip away like sand this all can add color and flash and uniqueness and flare little bows and patches of dirt ripped spots that add mystery and style stuffing falling out here or there tattered little pieces of the things of this life woman pieces, girl pieces, mom pieces, poet pieces, wife pieces, impending old lady pieces all leading up to this me, right now cobbled together.
