Co-Create Our Return to Gentleness

Let us devote Nov 2022 to #PracticingGentleness

Photo by Samantha Fortney on Unsplash

I need the medicine of Gentleness. Gentleness in the form of empathy, compassion, softness, tenderness, joy, and strength inspires us to keep co-creating what we want in our shared reality.

Practicing Gentleness, to me, is an instinct many of us have started distancing away from. We learned to be unkind to others and ourselves to hustle more and gain more. But the collective stress accumulated over the past two years has inspired us to find ways to offload unnecessary stress, so we can learn to be gentler with ourselves again.

As a Gentleness Ambassador and founder of Gentleness Ambassadors publication, I’d love to co-create a friendly wave of Gentleness with you all. For the entire month of November 2022, I’d love to have you join us in infusing Medium with various articles on your personal experiences of how you have been practicing Gentleness with yourself and others in your life.

The main objectives of this collaborative project are:

  • To inspire people with various ways they can be gentler with themselves when they are going through tougher times.
  • To offer our audience how they can receive the medicine of Gentleness through us. Do share more about your sacred work that helps your clients release harshness and pain and align more with their goals and desires. *Do take note of Medium’s guidelines for self-promotion.

Does this sound like a fun and meaningful writing project for you? I’m hoping you said, “Yes!”

Steps to get started

I have invited both solopreneurs who are new to writing on Medium and other writers who are more familiar with this platform. So, please scroll through these steps and let me know if you have any questions about these guidelines.

Logistics

Please let me know your Medium account username if you’re not yet a writer for Gentleness Ambassadors publication. I will need to add your account so you can submit your unpublished draft to this publication.

I’m happy to help you with the standard formatting of the title, subtitle, featured image credit, and headers, so don’t worry about the formatting rules if you’re unsure how to do so.

You can follow the steps in this Medium help article to add your draft article to Gentleness Ambassadors publication.

Please enable your private notes notification under your Medium account settings, so you will be notified of any private notes I send you about your article.

***You are welcome to submit more than one article for this project. I will space out the publishing of your articles so there’s a nice variety of articles among various writers.

Publishing schedule

As this is a month-long project, ideally, I would like to publish at least one article each day in November. Please let me know when you plan to submit your draft and your preferred date to publish your article (or if you have no preference). This will help me space out the publishing schedule.

I will promote your articles on my LinkedIn, Instagram, and Substack accounts. *As I would like to expand our reach beyond paid Medium members for this project, I will use free friend links to your articles to share with my audience. You will still earn reading time from paid members even if they click on the friend links.

Basic requirements of your article for this project

In last year’s 30 Days of Gentleness Project, I was not very specific about the article guidelines. This year, I’d like to be more focused on the intention and wording of the articles.

These are the basic requirements for your article for this project:

  • Please include at least a few sentences on how your articles relate to Practicing Gentleness. You can be creative in the format of your articles, such as adding poetry, short stories, interviews, or other media formats (embedded audio/video links).
  • Please have a minimum of 500 words for your article.
  • If you use any images, please ensure that you have permission to use them. Do add image credits in your image captions by double-clicking on each image. If they are your images, you can write “provided by the author.”

As the editor of this publication, I will be making basic formatting edits and obvious spelling and punctuation errors. Since I’m not a professional editor, I will not be making any suggestions to improve your writing, but I’m happy to offer my feedback only if you ask me for it.

On engaging with other writers and sharing our collaborative project

I would love everyone to participate actively in our #practicingGentleness project throughout November. Here are some optional ways to participate:

  • Use the #PracticingGentleness hashtag when you share your articles with your audience.
  • Share our List of articles for this project with your audience.
  • Engage with other writers participating in this project. You can read one or two articles in this project by other writers that look interesting to you and clap, comment, and/or share their articles.

I look forward to co-creating this with you!

With joyful gratitude, Bingz
