Clouds by the window
a free verse poem on a kid sitting by the window

sad and gloomy i sit by the window, clouds flow by, through their own airy road! i dozed off, startled by a knock, a cloud, inviting me to fly with him, sitting on his feathery surface, air-kissing my face, we drifted. cityscapes around me, flying by, the journey, tranquil, did we break the space-time conundrum? we entered a white space, peacefully silent, wait! there’s grandma, grandpa, my dear retriever, waving at me, smile laden faces, how i wish i could jump on their outspread hands, smell that talcum powder on grandma, wait for grandpa’s magical conjuring of chocolate, and Ruff, to lick my face down, overflowing emotions drove me mad, i jumped, straight into their arms, but fell on the ground, with a thud! mom came running by, dad’s face concerned, it was all a dream, the dream of sweet memories! but then, why was my face wet, my shirt smelling of talcum, and my mouth feeling sweeter?
