CloudFormation allows passing in parameters that don’t exist with no failure

This can create the false impression that a deployment ran correctly when it did not

I was deploying a tempate that takes certain parameters:

I inadvertantly named ConsoleAccessParam incorrectly for first parameter above and set it to true. My script deployed with no errors because I have set a default value for the parameter.

If someone passes in a parameter that is not in the CloudFormation template, it seems like that should throw an error like “Non-existent parameter [x] passed to template.”

Otherwise, the person deploying the resources might not realize there is a problem with the deployment.
