Clapping and Commenting on Medium
Either or both?

Authors need feedback. It’s fair to say that most of us are trying to improve what we do. There are actually two levels of feedback that each of us can provide.
CLAPPING
Bravo, congratulations on a great story, well done, excellent, and so much more. Over the years, I’ve developed a knee-jerk reaction to claps. They are:
1 clap — The clapper reads some or all of the article, post, story, etc. This isn’t even necessarily true. One clap?
50 - claps — Thoughtful and appreciative. Recognition of a job well done. The article, post, or story had value to the person clapping.
COMMENTING
Not a lot to be said. It’s a place for genuine feedback.
As a writer, I’m hopeful that just one person received some benefit from what I’ve written. I'm so pleased if they’re happy, sad, joyful, curious, elated, angry, or any of a hundred other emotions or responses. I’ve done my job.
Also, think of commenting as a way to connect with the author and our community because any number of readers could see your comment.
So, where do you stand? How do you see this system working for you, or does it?
Please take the time to comment. Let me and others know how you feel about the system.

It’s been nearly impossible to give comments because of a problem on Medium’s side, but I do like the way that Gabriella wrote this article:
