Civil War…Really?

Week 2: Saving the United States from Civil War can’t start soon enough. Maybe you have been too afraid to think about helping but it’s not too late to start.

The list of people and governments that would like to see the United States of America fail is long. Many people are deluding themselves and others into believing that civil war is patriotism.

It is not.

I choose to fight back against the paralyzing fear, confusion, and outright lies that are spreading like wildfire. Here is a list of things that you can do to help.

SHOW OFF YOUR INNER PATRIOT

I am a full-blooded, born-and-bred, citizen of the United States of America. Patriotism lives inside me and always has. It’s a weird phenomenon that when the world gets violent, the loudest, angriest people arm themselves while announcing they are “real” patriots. Ahem, excuse me? I may be quiet and afraid of you, but I still love my country. I don’t want it torn apart. I don’t think that war will make us stronger. The sooner “normal” people speak up and assert their patriotism again, the better.

SPEAK UP AGAINST WONKY IDEAS

What? No. Absolutely NOT! No, it is not okay to “split” our country! A lot of people in our country have given up emotionally and so they want to scrap the whole thing. As in, “You know what? Eff it. I’m so over this! I give up. Just give those idiots half the country.”

I understand the collective frustration, but the bottom line is, there is SO MUCH GOOD HERE in the U.S.! Yes, there are problems, but our country still works. It still works. Read that again. The United States of America is still a thriving, robust country. We have a great economy and a fantastic military. We have good people from all over the world. Family people. We are chock full of churches, parks, schools, firefighters, hospitals, shopping malls, and Dairy Queens. Yes, our country has all this and more! Listen, it’s not over. Don’t believe that.

Do we need to do a few sit-ups? Maybe remodel the kitchen? Okay, yes. We’ve been ignoring her, but we don’t need to KILL HER. Omg. Calm down.

If you are brave enough for war and for dividing the country, then you are brave enough to handle the less drastic measures that should come before murder and destruction, like dialogue and compromise.

Claiming the good, reaching for hope again, is part of what it means to fight the good fight. The land of the free and the home of the brave wasn’t built to be torn apart by false patriots.

The time for good people to speak up is now.
