Chronicles of the Pomegranate:

The Fight to End Free Radicals! 😊

created on museai by the author

My week on Superfruits is coming to an end! The saga of our Superfruit heroes is ending with none other than our juicy avenger Mr. Pomegranate. He is ready to aid in the battle against free radicals and other despicable villains. He is not as well known as our other superfruits but he packs a powerful punch.

These delicious fruits have been grown in the Middle East, Asia, and the Mediterranean region for thousands of years. Many ancient cultures used pomegranate as a cultural icon. For the Greeks fertility and in the Middle Eastern cultures, it symbolizes abundance, prosperity, and again fertility.

Does this superfruit deserve all this praise and celebrity status?

Why, it sure does! Pomegranates are not only filled with an abundance of nutrients but have been studied for the treatment and prevention of illnesses and have been shown to stand out above all others.

What are these Health Benefits you speak of?

1. Cancer prevention: Research has suggested that the antioxidants found in pomegranates may have anti-cancerous properties, including slowing down the cells.

2. Memory Improvement: Evidence has shown that pomegranates have a positive effect on cognitive functions and memory. It also helps the brain from oxidative damage.

3. Nutrient Rich: Great source for a butt load of vitamins and minerals.

4. Anti-inflammatory: Compounds found in the fruit have anti-inflammatory properties.

5. Healthy Heart: Studies suggest eating pomegranates has a positive effect on the heart. Lowers blood pressure, reduces cholesterol, and improves cardiovascular functions.

6. Rich in antioxidants: These antioxidants help neutralize free radicals and help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation.

What can I say, I think I am in love with this masked hero. Pomegranates also speak volumes about versatility. You can grab a handful of seeds on your way out the door. You can top a salad with the seeds, put it in a yogurt parfait, blend it in a smoothie, or juice it.

Next time you are out grocery shopping for food make sure to pick up a beautiful Pomegranate or just the seeds. I will leave you with a quick recipe of sorts; it can be a snack, dessert, or a quick breakfast.

Behold!!!……..
