Christmas! Once for my Mother! Now for my Son!
Christmas Smiles!
I love snow, especially on Christmas trees! But I can’t make it snow here, so you can see what I have done! 👇

Christmas is around the corner and we can already feel the positive vibes around filled with happiness and smiles in the air. Sparkling lights and stars, decorations of vibrant colors, and of course the Christmas Trees. How can we forget the gifts? With more and more ideas and innovations, celebrations are becoming more and more bright and exciting.
Just board my bus and let’s travel back some 30 years and relish some interesting Christmas moments thereafter!
Christmas of my Childhood!
The first ever Christmas I could remember dates back to 1990 when I was 12 years old, mainly because of the Christmas tree. The fun part I remember and enjoy about Christmas was the tree decoration and I never let anyone in. Being the last child, I always get my wishes granted. The place where I lived was no different than living in a jungle, a single house in the middle of a tea garden surrounded by mountains, and of course streams, like in heaven (a remote village called Sholarock, 1-hour travel from a small town back then, Coonoor in The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu, India).
Back then, Christmas tree decoration was so unfamiliar in the place where we lived. There was no pine or a Christmas tree nearby either. So, my father would send someone to pick a branch from wherever he finds one. Hence, we cannot expect a perfect shape or sort of 😉. You can see that for yourself. 👇

Another interesting fact was that we didn’t have access to many of those decorations that we get nowadays. But, somehow I convinced my mother to go to the town to check if we could find some and I was lucky enough to get a small pack of stars in a fancy store in the market that you can see hanging out, dancing, and smiling, in the picture.
What else was great about festivals? Yes, you’re right; having people around; friends, relatives, neighbors, and colleagues. Again, can’t forget the gifts and snacks. It was more about exchanging “love.” My mom was so great at receiving guests with “unconditional love” and very well known for her generous hospitality and made sure we had a houseful of guests every single year.
Christmas in the City:
The next notable Christmas celebration was the one after we moved to the city in 2000. As always, we had guests and surprisingly enough the pine tree too. My friend, now my husband, surprised me with a beautifully shaped branch of a pine tree, I still wonder where did he get that from. Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of that.
It went on like that for another decade with more and more Christmas smiles until my mother passed away in 2012.
The last Christmas prior to that miserable year was the best of all after we moved to the city, so memorable because I invited all my three sisters along with their families and a few other relatives at my mother’s request. It was “houseful.” Even to this date, I wonder, maybe my mother already knew that was the last Christmas celebration! I could never forget that one. So, for me, Christmas was for my mother.

Christmas and my Son:
I didn’t celebrate Christmas after that until my son wanted to. He got so fascinated by the decorations and celebrations he watched on YouTube, especially the one in New York. So, since then, I have been doing it for my son, for his happiness. The picture below 👇 the first Christmas tree for my son. We also invited our friends and family and it was real fun.
But, I couldn’t completely enjoy with the feeling of a vacuum, half of me felt lost! 😔
Cheers again! This is a time for celebration and I don’t want to spoil the mood.

See that pride on his face of taking over the legacy of decorating the tree from his mother!
The year 2015, we moved to another house, where we went up from having one tree to two, one in front of our house and another one, a live tree, in the balcony. The celebration was also great, with our neighbors. 👇 Below is the picture of the one in the balcony, all white decoration theme.

Currently, in another location, in a dilemma, because I don’t find a suitable place, but my son is insisting on having one. I don’t know 🤷♀️ what I am going to do. Still thinking! 🤔 Maybe I will 🥰
Thank you! 🙏
🎄🍾 Have a joyful celebration! 🍾🎄
