On social media, Chrissy Teigen is a social media superstar, loved by her adoring fans.

Along with being a wife to Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter, John Legend, she is also a mother, actor, model, and author.

Chrissy Teigen named as one of the top 25 most influential people on the Internet, made it to Time Magazine’s Top 100, and she has been called the unofficial Mayor of Twitter.

She owned social media, in part because she is relatable, she feels one of us and she shares her authentic self. No holds barred, No filter.

But a week ago, she posted a heartbreaking letter, Hi.

I had no idea when I would be ready to write this. Part of me thought it would be early on, when I was still really feeling the pain of what happened. I thought I would sit in the corner of my bedroom with the lights dimmed, just rolling off my thoughts. I’d have a glass of red wine, cozy up with a blanket, and finally get the chance to address “what happened”.

By now, we all know “what happened.” or to most of us who follow her on her Instagram account and Twitter.

I wrote my own response to her letter. Her letter resonated with a lot of people around the world, it is the letter all grieving moms who lost their babies wanted to write.

But can’t.

The letter was raw, after reading it you would understand the pain and feel the pain of the loss.

One can only think they understand and feel the pain. When one can never measure the loss of a child.

How Many Babies Are Stillborn?

Stillbirth affects about 1 in 160 births, and each year about 24,000 babies are stillborn in the United States.1 That is about the same number of babies that die during the first year of life and it is more than 10 times as many deaths as the number that occur from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

24,000 mommies in the US experienced what Chrissy Teigen went through. A memory that stays with them, until the very end.

It is haunting that she has photographs, her reason, so she won't be looking for them when the time comes, that she wanted to see them.

I had asked my mom and John to take pictures, no matter how uncomfortable it was. I explained to a very hesitant John that I needed them, and that I did NOT want to have to ever ask.

It is hard to share one most intimate feelings, but she felt she had to it, it will help her not to move on but in moving forward, a part of her healing process.

People in grief, they don’t move on, they can only choose to move forward.

A consolation for her and all those who lost a loved one this year, when we are in a world a few months ago is totally different from what it is now. Is that people are still able to care, listen, and to share not only in other people's joy but also in other people's pain.

We have seen an outpouring of love for Chrissy.

Social media had its shining moment with Chrissy Teigen. It did right by her. Through the very social media platforms, where Chrissy became famous, it is where her message not only was amplified but also came back to Chrissy in the form of love.

Chrissy Teigen’s post, her letter, the Hi, that waved at millions of people around the world, and the response she received was not only a wave but a virtual hug, especially from moms who like her experience the loss of a child, some may still be grieving, as some mothers said, it never really goes away.

A heartbreaking moment on social media,. social signals have helped it become viral but it is the ordinary people, most mothers who shared and continues to share Hi.

Shared by other celebrities and the likes of Hillary Clinton, who she thanked in a tweet, the former First Lady tweeted to her followers;

Women for Women. Mothers for Mother.

Hi, became news. It has become the most viral letter of the year, and it comes from a mother's grief and pain.

We are all connected, the grief of one person gives us a moment to feel, and for the person grieving, a moment to heal.

The message is never lost, that out of grief comes compassion, out of the pain comes hope and out of darkness, the light will shine.

This is how we are connected because we are, our differences, in the end, don't matter. What matters, is that we reach our hands, we use our hearts, and be one in spirit, that is what humanity is all about. and we can continue to carry the light, no matter how our world is tethered in shadows.
