Chokin’ on the Blues
On a long road — waitin’ for tomorrow Through the shadows — you crawled on by Then the clouds turned black And the sky began to cry
The pain you left me — got me sinkin’ like a stone The ghosts of my memories — scream it’s time to pay the toll Your vultures surround me Then strike to steal my soul
Your devils tied and bound me Stirrin’ up your brew They blind my eyes and drown me
Now I’m chokin’ on the blues
There’s a blood moon arisin’ — a gray owl stares me down I’m frozen in sorrow — when your wolves begin to howl You splayed my heart open And left it beating on the ground
Your blade has run me through
Now I’m chokin’ on the blues
