ChatGPT Vs Gemini: Which One I Like As A Writer
As a writer, I know the struggle of digging through mountains of information.

I’m always looking for tools to help me do my job better. Lately, the buzz around AI language models like Gemini Ultra 1.0 & ChatGPT-4 has been huge.
But can these AIs actually upgrade my research game? That’s what I wanted to find out.
I won’t get into the technical weeds of how these models work — if you are curious, there’s plenty out there about that. instead, I’ll focus on what they can do for writers like me.
Putting Them To The Test:
I threw both Gemini Ultra 1.0 and ChatGPT-4 some technical research tasks to see how they handled them. Here’s the breakdown!
1 — Topic Exploration:
- “Explain the concept of cryptocurrency and how blockchain technology works. Use simple language a beginner can understand.”

In this test, I would go with Gemini. The reason is that it explained the concept very deeply. It didn’t used advanced vocabulary and it broke down into bullet points to help me understand it better.
On the other hand, ChatGPT-4 did the opposite. (It crashed twice)
2 — Historical Context:
- “What were the major causes of World War I? Provide a brief overview.”

The Readability is much better of Gemini. On the factor of output, there’s no big difference between those two.
3 — Fact-Checking:
- “The claim is that eating carrots significantly improves eyesight. Is this true, and what does the scientific research say?”

4 — Definition and Examples:
- “Define the term ‘cognitive dissonance’ and provide real-world examples of it.”

5 — Current Events Analysis
- “Summarize the recent economic policies proposed by the US government. What are the potential impacts?”

Comparison Report:
Both gave me almost same results but there are some other things that I want to discuss:
- Speed: Gemini Ultra 1.0 is faster than ChatGPT-4.
- Readability: Unfortunately, ChatGPT-4 failed at this. Gemini Ultra 1.0 really did a great job at readability, breaking paragraphs into lines and bullet points along with the headings.
- Pricing: The pricing is almost same for both AI Models. But ChatGPT-4 has a limited cap of 50 messages in 3 hours. It really hurts when you are paying and it puts limitations on you. This is not the case for Gemini.
- Plugins: ChatGPT has plugin store with variety of useful tools to streamline the work. On the other hand, Gemini only has the access to few Google apps.
- Knowledge: ChatGPT-4 is developed by OpenAI, they have to train their model on knowledge that is in the world right now. But Gemini is developed by Google and they have all the knowledge in their database. Gemini is gonna take the lead.
- Internet Browsing: ChatGPT-4 uses bing to browse the internet and it sometimes crash. While Gemini uses Google and it seamlessly gives you the information that you are looking.
My Favourite Feature :
Gemini gives you 3 results based on your prompt. All three are different and you can choose your own. Which is helpful and time saving.

My Takeaway:
These AI models aren’t going to replace a writer’s own research skills.
They’re tools and like any other tool, they work best when you know how to use them correctly.
I see them as great starting points for getting a handle on unfamiliar topics, digging deeper into source material and even sparking fresh ideas.
But the critical thinking part? That’s still all on us writers!
