Imagine you are in an elevator with the CIO and he/she knows you have been working with them for a while. Before they head into their next meeting, which is 5 floors and a few steps away, they want to know what ChatGPT is all about.
You are speaking to them for the first time. You want to make the first impression impactful. So, what do you say?
ChatGPT is a machine-learning model which can generate human-like text. The most exciting part of this model is that it is also capable of understanding the context of a conversation and can respond in a way that feels natural.
The model uses a technique called Probability Distribution. The model assigns a probability to each word in its vocabulary, based on the context. The word with the highest probability is selected as the next word in the sentence.
GPT stands for
- “Generative” — The model’s ability to generate new text.
- “Pre-trained” — The model has been trained using a large dataset before being fine-tuned for specific tasks
- “Transformer” — Type of neural network architecture used, which is designed to effectively handle sequential data such as text
Common use cases for ChatGPT are:
- Text Completion — Autocomplete and predictive text.
- Question Answering — Respond to questions in a natural way.
- Language Generation — Text summarization, Language translation, and content creation such as poetry, storytelling
- Language Modeling —Predict the next word in a sentence based on the context it was trained in. This can improve the performance of other models such as speech recognition and natural language understanding.
ChatGPT is a product of OpenAI, a research organization focused on developing artificial intelligence.
OpenAI was founded in December 2015 by Elon Musk, Greg Brockman, Ilya Sutskever, Sam Altman, Wojciech Zaremba, and several others.
