Chasing the Sunrise

Or running away from the sunset?

When you move a piece of furniture away from a wall that has not been moved in eight years there is a good chance that there will be copious amounts of dust and even cobwebs behind where that piece of furniture was.

That may be a very obvious statement. While a metaphor or two may be squeezed out of it, what it means most to me right now is that there is much cleaning to do.

Cleaning. Healing. Movement. Realignment. Release. Restart. Reprogram. Sunrise.

Sunrise? Yes, I am moving one mile closer to where the sun rises each day. Due east; the opposite direction from where I have been heading.

How silly of me. I could move a mile closer to where the sun rises every year for millennia and never get there. I could also chase the sunset and never get there. Don’t you just love circular planets?

I hate moving but sometimes movement is imperative.

Having moved countless times, I have learned that the best place to get empty cardboard boxes is liquor stores. They have an endless supply. If anyone is spying on me as I move they are going to think I am a total drunk.

But I’m not.

I took seven full garbage bags full of crap out to the dumpster over the weekend. I am still exhausted just thinking about it. Living in the same place for almost nine years somehow creates an enormous amount of crap. I am finding it surprisingly easy to simply throw something out rather than move it.

I remember many decades ago when I was a young whippersnapper I could move across the country at the drop of a hat. I could pack and be ready to go in a matter of hours. Now I am moving just one mile and I have only two weeks to do it in. I am not sure I can do it. No one told me about this downside to aging.

But the sunrise! The sunrise! Very soon I will be able to view and engage the sunrise every single morning of every single day of the year (weather permitting). This will surely change everything.
