Chasing in love happens because of infatuation. It starts after meeting someone new, getting smitten, and only wanting to spend more time with them. This is a very tricky situation to navigate.

In the majority of the cases, the chase ends up being futile, leading to emotional hurt in the chaser. I have been a victim of this. But the last time it happened, it made me sit and ponder over the events in excruciating detail. It brought about certain conclusions and noteworthy points.

The realizations were:

  1. Constantly or forcefully trying to establish communication doesn’t work. It shifted my focus from other parts of my life.
  2. Non-existent flaws show up, leading to losing self-esteem.
  3. There is a thin line between realistic and unrealistic optimism. Unfulfillment can lead to depression.
