Charming Clouds
Haiku

Dumplings in the sky, large marshmallows moored in time clouds cajole this spring.
As my 16-year-old daughter drove me home (she is practicing for her driver’s license), we both noticed how puffy and ethereal the clouds looked in the blue sky. We offered our thoughts on what the clouds looked like — the dumplings and marshmallows coming as winners.
I also told Sophia that my dad and I used to play a game called “Guess the Clouds.” We would both take turns comparing the clouds to mythical creatures, domestic animals, objects, and whatever else came to mind. My dad and I loved guessing the clouds, especially after swimming in The Timis River, while sitting on our beach blanket to get dry and warmed up by the sun.
How about you? Do you like to play “Guess the Clouds” alone or with loved ones? If not, try it next time, and tell us what you see on the vast firmament.
I loved the upbeat and inspirational message of Leah Lynch’s poem.
