Charlie Munger Quotes That Changed My Life

As you may have already heard from TV or various articles Charlie Munger, Warren Buffett’s friend died 2 week ago at the age of 99.

Surely every one of us whether an investor or not had something to learn from him and today I’d like to talk a bit about the quotes that personally changed my life.

1. The best thing a person can do is to help another person know more.

This quote has helped me in all my work on Medium. I have decided that all the information I manage to get that helps me be more productive and make more money to share with everyone. So I put in each article all the knowledge I have gained, and this has helped me create a community that when I started I never dreamed of, over 7k followers.

2. If you want to ruin your life, try changing your partner

This quote helped me a lot to realize that in life every person is different and you should never try to change the one next to you. You will lose a lot by trying and most probably the result will not be the expected one, because every man changes only if he really wants to.

3. The real money is not in selling or buying, it is in patience and waiting.

The quote helped me tremendously on the investment side. So many people wait for the perfect time to start a business but what we need to understand is that there is no such thing. All you have to do is create a 10–15 year investment plan and be patient. I was reading a study the other day that said you are over 99% likely to see an investment in a good asset made today pay off in 10 years.

4. Imitating the herd will invite regression to the mean

This helped me understand that you have to find your own way and avoid becoming mediocre. So when everyone chooses to buy cars they can’t afford and extremely expensive latest generation phones I chose financial independence as my goal.

This means sacrifices but they will one day set you apart from the average.

I’m sure each of you has heard a quote from Charlie Munger and I’d love to find out which one helped you.

Thank You Charlie Munger!!
